Growing up in rural Alaska, I was captivated and intrigued by how my people learned to thrive in such a harsh landscape. The tools, weapons, and attire of Alaska Natives are not only beautiful; they are practical, often ingenious, with the designs. Using colorful acrylic paint and my own style, I am trying to recapture the same power and striking resourcefulness of the Inupiat Eskimos.
The elders get older and pass away, and their ways are often lost. By painting aspects, objects, and people from this culture, I can do my part in preserving it or even bring some of it back. I have learned a great deal about my own Alaska Native history, through my desire to paint it.
Arctic climates in all their full glory, come with intense colors that only clear, fresh air can provide. My deep love of the varied northern Alaska landscapes keeps me working hard to reflect the charm and allure of the land that I grew up in.
I sincerely hope you enjoy the time you spend looking at my paintings and the website. Feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 907. 625 .1653.
